Abstract

en_US This book is very similar to a pair of copies with the same bibliographical information but dated to 1948. The typesetting seems different. The first illustration, FC, has moved onto the title-page, across from the frontispiece portrait of Krylov. As I wrote of those copies, this book seems a standard presentation of Krylov's fables, with a rich assortment of A. Laptyev's 1947 illustrations. This edition adds an AI of titles at the end before the T of C, which lists seventy-eight fables on the book's 147 pages. The illustrations are full-page black-and-white presentations, and I count eighteen of them here plus the title-page's nineteenth by contrast with the twenty illustrations in those other two copies. This book has five lovely silhouettes on its front cover. Canvas binding.
