- Abstract
- en_US It took some hunting six months after receiving this book to track down the purchase details. The vendor advertised it as Persian, and that helped identify a lot that was not so clear when I tried seeing the book as in Arabic! The texts are taken from S.A. Handford's Penguin edition. The surprise of this book lies in its excellent part-page black-and-white illustrations. Many seem to copy motifs from artists like Harrison Weir, but they are beautifully executed! Unfortunately, my translation program does not do well with the numbers here, and so I cannot give page references. But among the best illustrations are "Hares and Frogs"; TMCM; FS; "Butcher and Dog" (this is especially vigorous!); "Pedant and Drowning Boy"; and "Widow of Ephesus."
