- Abstract
- en_US Solon was the hundred-year-old talking pet turtle of King Powoj of Poland. He told the King that the King talked too much, when in fact Solon talked more than Powoj. The herons wanted to teach Solon a lesson; as a result, when he approached them with his stick and flying idea, they readily agreed. Fly lower so the King can see me! was the sentence that lost Solon his passage. Then he decided not to fly any more. The illustrations are wonderful, especially those involving the herons; they often combine orange, blue, and tan in beautiful fashion.
