- Abstract
- en_US Here is very large (10" x 13¾") paperbound book of stories, with some of its 48 pages coming loose. Among its stories are a number of fables that I can recognize. There may well be some that I do not recognize. The art is big, bold, and strong. Among the best illustrations are several for MSA, which picture four different phases (6-7) after a beginning conversation on 5. Crow and fox are cleverly separated by text on 9. The "Truhana" story on 10 is a form of MM, I remember. The encounter of lion and bull from KD is strongly pictured on 21. If I understand correctly, the illustration for the fox imitating being dead (31) is on 33, while the text for the next story starts on 32: "The Emperor's New Clothes." The story on 37 is, I believe, about the man who has just married a high-strung wife. He kills his dog, cat, and horse for not serving him water when he asks, and she becomes docile for life. The horse-killing is well illustrated on 39. This book spent too long in someone's musty basement!
