- Abstract
- en_US Very close to my 1902? Lupton edition, right down to the good paper, the good printing, and the numerous empty pages at the end. As is usual for these Lupton editions (see 1900?, 1901?, and 1902?), a note added to the editor's preface indicates the addition of 130 fables not in the first and second editions, there is an exhaustive T of C, and after 156 pages of Aesop, there are Later Fables. In fact, the text is so eager to get to the later fables that in each of these Lupton copies there is no 157 or 158! Unlike other Lupton editions, this book does not say With Copious Additions from Other Modern Authors on the title-page or anywhere. This book adds a design on the title-page, and is larger, with larger margins. It has a gold-printed floral pattern on its red cover and spine. Its pages show an unusual riff on their side-edges.
