- Abstract
- en_US This is a sixteen-page pamphlet secured with a lovely thread. The four "fables" here are eloquent poems occasioned by myths. The choice of moments to work from is very good here, and I can enjoy it in all but his third poem: Medea's killing of her children; Cain's being a marked carnivore; and Ajax's landing and besting by a cheating comrade. I struggle with the third pome, "Chased," featuring Atys. This kind of poetry presumes, I think, sophisticated cultural background in the hearer or reader. In the meantime, such writing remains tangential to the project of this collection.
