- Abstract
- en_US I am not sure how much the stories here are fables, but I enjoy them. There is often a surprise ending, as when three enemies of the fox discuss his misbehavior and conclude by hoping that in his next lifetime he will be born a human being (30). The missionary who wants to teach native people modesty ends up giving them, in the mumus he offers, an opportunity to enjoy even more sex (24). A flea helps a gunfighter to become rich and famous. When he is pushed to the side by the gunfighter, he finds a way to get the gunfighter killed. The line drawings are very well conceived and executed. They fit the mood of the stories perfectly. The first of them, "The Tattooed Bride" (9), expresses the style well.
