- Abstract
- en_US I am not sure whether we have ever before had a book produced by a kibutz. This one may be fable-like. I quote from the "GoogleTranslate" translation gleaned from the back cover of this 28-page paperback. "The rhymed children's story of H.N. Balik. The story about the growing chicken, Gil Shugil, who is hungry for her wisdom and resourcefulness, gets a new, lively and contemporary outfit, with Yossi Abolafia's humorous illustrations. The classic of Hebrew children's literature at its best." I can confirm that the illustrations are humorous -- and lively. My favorite illustration is just before the center. I take it that the chicks are learning chicken life. What they see is an extravaganza of activity: teaching, dancing, working, sleeping. In the end, a chicken routs the aggressive attacking fox. 28 pages. 8¼" x 8½".
