- Abstract
- en_US The first task upon receiving this portfolio was to organize it. It seems complete. The outer jacket is in only fair condition. The ten engravings are in good condition. The format is about 10" x 13", with illustrations about 6" x 7½". I may not have figured out the pagination even yet. It seems that the engravings precede the texts. Fables here include: "The Eagle and the Owl"; "The Two Pigeons"; "The Young Widow" (perhaps among the best here); "Love and Folly"; MM (also strong); LM; GA (among the best); "Two Cocks"; WL; and FC. GA pictures the ant as a stalwart matron rejecting the grasshopper, who is a lovely, bare-breasted ballerina. Some copies beyond those numbered 1 to 100 were made for collaborators in this project, and they are numbered with Roman numerals. This is number XVIII. Not in Bodemann.
