- Abstract
- en_US Here is an excellent example of the contemporary Aesopic tradition. In 1971 Oxford University Press published a paperback with texts by Gwendolne Dun and illustrations by Frank C. Pape. In 1982 Oxford used the same texts and illustrations -- though leaving out the second color -- in a bilingual edition using Korean after the 80 pages of English for the same nine fables. Now here in 1996 Timer Kiado uses the same texts and illustrations in a Hungarian paperback. Aesop not only lives. He travels! Here the color is back, and the fable illustrations remain very lively. The best picture is of a laughing hare (55). TMCM adds family to the joys of the country home (25). The leaping fox's nose touches one grape (28). Angry sheepowners beat the joker shepherd (73).
