- Abstract
- en_US The set includes sixteen pamphlets, five of which are fables. Each is 3¾ x 5½ in size, with fairly cheap paper. One holds the 32-page book in portrait fashion, with both pages exposed. The upper page contains a line or two of La Fontaine's text in a simple frame. The lower page has a picture to color. My favorite here in WL shows the young lamb drinking from the river through a bendable straw. Another excellent image has the wolf pointing down at the lamb, whose raised face we see upside down. The artist here has the wolf jumping up and down in anger -- and thus troubling the waters -- while he reiterates nonsensically that the lamb is troubling his waters.
