- Abstract
- en_US The best tribute I can give to this book is that it is the book that Andreas Gommermann and I used to make our way through the history of German fable over the course of a year. There are three hundred and fifty-four fables here, beginning with Aesop and ranging across the world. The main group consists of German fables. They are all rendered in contemporary German idiom. I have abundant notes and comments on the xeroxed version that I worked through as we read the fables. This is a worthy and wide-ranging collection! T of C on 393. There is even a ribbon for marking one's place.
