- en_US What a lovely thin book! I think that there are fifty fables and fifty illustrations, along with a frontispiece-illustration. It is thus surprising that the front cover proclaims Mit 49 Holzschnitten. The Solis imitations here are very good. Maybe among the best are the illustrations for Vom dem Pferd und Hirsch (31) and Vom Fuchs und dem Bock (49). This is an unusual fable book in that it has almost nothing besides the fables and their illustrations. There are just two sentences on 56 about the original author, the original engraver, and the present artist. In any case, the fables here are numbered. The book is inscribed in September, 1934.
