Abstract: en_US An excellent presentation of a good Jatakas tale about the rabbit's fear that the earth is breaking up. Both the storytelling and the illustration are first rate. Young's two-page spread of a single lion's paw near the middle of the book is excellent, as is the lion's face spread over the next pair of pages. After that middle point, watch the great presentation of rabbits, e.g., embracing in fright over the lion's roar. The original tree is identified by the rabbit as an apple tree only after the lion has halted the stampede with his roar. A great example of how the best of a tradition can be well presented with the best of contemporary technology.
