- Abstract
- en_US This looks at first acquaintance like the complete Rabier LaFontaine. A closer look reveals that it is a combination of the first and second of three parts. Ironically, those are the two independent parts that I already have! One clue consists in the two T of C's at the back, both showing Contenues dans ce volume, but one covering 1-80 and the other 81-160. Like the second part of the three-volume set, this first volume (of two?) finishes with VII 14. This combination copy has the same surprising little section in English on the lower left of the pre-title page: Published December 1, -1906. Privilege of Copyright in the United States, reserved under the act approved March 3 1905 by Tallandier. Favorites among the good illustrations here include GA (1), OF (16), FS (20), The Bitch and Her Companion (32), The Drunk and His Wife (57), and BF (81). Rabier is really fun! This book has seen serious wear, but still is in fair to good condition. I can find no reference to this publication in Bodemann. Bodemann's illustration for Rabier's 1906 volume is the back cover of this book: a child faces a group of animals.
