Abstract

en_US A very pleasing little book, with a collection of fables, exemplary human tales, fairytales, and etiological stories from China, Taiwan, Southeast Asia, and Northeast Asia. There are four Aesopic fables: The Woodcutter and the Fox (16); TT (52, both from China); The Man, His Son, and Their Buffalo (105, from Malaysia); and The Lion and the Rat (121, from Japan). The Monkey and the Turtle from Malaysia features the common fable motif Oh, I left my heart at home.
