- en_US See my comments on the first volume. As pointed out there, this volume's special frontispiece gives the 1839 date. This volume has the same inscriptions: 9.1.24 and March, '44. Among my favorite illustrations are: both the head-piece and the tail-piece for Le Curé et le Mort (37); the frontispiece to Book VIII; The Rat and the Elephant (100); the frontispiece to Book XI; and The Fox, the Wolf, and the Horse (323).
