- Abstract
- en_US A beautiful paperback facsimile (?) of the first Dutch translation (1781) of Gellert's 1772 work. Fifty-six fables, with one engraving for each fable. I wish I could be sure that this is a facsimile, and not some other sort of reproduction. Gellert's fables are apparently his own creations. The closest thing to a traditional Aesop's fable here is The Blind and the Lame (42). I wish I had a good collection of Gellert in English or even German, but I am glad to get him in some form! T of C at the end. A lovely gift!
