- Abstract
- en_US Here is a Hungarian Panchatantra with stirring illustrations. There is also a set of monochrome designs repeated along the way. The three-color full-page illustrations have especially caught my attention. Several of them are sexually explicit, including "The Monkey and the Wedge" (30); a naked scene at a pool (210); and a slaughter in the pool (228). I recognize the earlier illustrations: two rams and a jackal between them (44); the hare and the lion at the well (62); TT (80); the battle between the bull and the lion king (92); the rat and the netted pigeons (108); and the hunter and the netted tortoise (142). Further illustrations are confusing to me: a flock of birds (152 and 174); owls and a captured victim (166); a bull and thistles (190); a donkey braying at the moon (238); and a man and a snake (256). As to the bibliographic particulars, I cannot be sure that I have got them right!
