- Abstract
- en_US This is a love story. Prince Sudhana and Manohara are deliriously happy with each other, but two ministers plot against them. He is sent to war, and she is to be offered as a sacrificial victim. She flies away and leaves instructions for him to follow her. She will be hard to find. He returns triumphant, only to become desolate over finding her gone from his home. He follows her trail, overcomes many difficulties, and is happily reunited with her. His last test from her father consists in facing five hundred women who look just like her. He is able to pick out his Manohara in a moment. The art is heavy on pastels. The strongest illustrations might be those depicting her capture and their reunion. They are repeated, respectively, on the title-page and the front cover.
