- Abstract
- en_US Ten years ago, I found one volume (Volume IV) of this work by Olshausen-Schönberger and I admired it. As I said in reporting on it then, it is one step from being a fable book, but it is too delightful to leave out of the collection. Animals here are an effective means for putting social types in their place. The wit and skill make one think of Grandville. Among the most notable and fable-like illustrations here are Der Unerbittliche (apparently a customs officer, 5), Der neue Hut (7), Scheiden tut weh! (35). Obviously, I like this work!
