Abstract: en_US This standard kids' reader contains Fable Frolic by Faye Head on 293-308. It originally appeared in Plays, The Drama Magazine for Young People. This little drama contains two elaborated fables dramatically presented. In the fable about the broken axe handle, the other trees give the ash without listening to its objections. The fable culminates in a moral about sacrificing the poor and humble. The other fable is The Farmer and His Children. The fables have fitting decorations of pine cones and grapes, respectively. There are at the beginning and end illustrations of the seven children acting the plays.
