- Abstract
- en_US This book's story is a perenniel favorite. The grandson begins making wooden bowls for his parents, who have just condemned his grandfather to eat separately from a wooden bowl. The parents have a change of heart and reverence the grandfather through the grandson's intervention. Here the actors are all mice. The art is especially good in depicting the baby mouse that is just joining the family. A story like this seems to need the stereotypes of old age: blurry eyes, weak ears, and trembling hands. Reader's Digest in the case of this series seems frequently to have turned to art corporations rather than to individual artists.
