- Abstract
- en_US This is really a compilation of fables along one narrative, roughly like The Roman of Renard. The fox does her best to compete in the assembly of larger, stronger animals. I read the first several sections: The Choice of a King; Bull and Steed Leave the King's Court; and The King's Counselors. The story goes through nineteen such chapters. The illustrations are strong. I would call them artfully primitive; the style seems to have been strong in Germany in the 1950s.
