- Abstract
- en_US This is a wildly illustrated collection of 100 fables from many sources. Its bright splashy cover announces a presentation style that includes a melange of elements and off-kilter titles and numbers. The thin paper used for the pages constitutes another surprise. The collection starts with traditional Western fables from Aesop and others and moves, I believe, into more and more Asian fables. Some good samples of the approach early are GA (#12); "The Donkey Flautist" (#17); and FM (#25). Is #24 really CJ? The rooster seems to be shooting the pearl into a basketball basket! Krylov's "Pike, Lobster, and Swan" is #31. Almost every fable gets a two-page spread.
