- Abstract
- en_US A standard reader in very good condition. Owned by the Board of Education of Detroit. Seven fables, each with an illustration (some black-and-white, more orange-tan-and-black). Two are presented as plays: TMCM (51) and BW (131). The Cowardly Bat (76) adds a first phase in which both sides ask the bat's help and are denied. Pedro and the Saddle-Bags (93) is a Spanish version of the salt and sponge story. Do not miss I and We (136), the fable about whether one man or two find an axe along the way. A Covetous Neighbor (182) from India is new to me and enjoyable; monkeys show one man a cave of gold, and his neighbor is too eager to repeat the experience. There are suggestions for study on each offering starting on 265.
