- Abstract
- en_US This book presents a story like that about finding the strongest spouse for the mouse-daughter. The chain here runs through snow, sun, cloud, wind, wall, rat, cat, dog, stick, fire, water, ox, and man, and thence back to snow. Frasconi's work is as always simple, strong, and delightful. Thank God that neither Spanish nor English has a distinct vocative case, or this kind of rhyme would not work, since it calls on the most recent member each time and puts each other member into apposition with the object that ended the last line. This would be a fine book for learning some Spanish or English.
