- Abstract
- en_US Now this is very surprising. Over years I worked my way back to what I thought was a first edition of Godolphin's work, published by James Miller in NY in 1869. Now I have here in my hand, for $142 less, a copy inscribed at Christmas in 1868! Notice the different publisher. Of course, this copy from Cassell, Petter, and Galpin is not dated. The embossed golden title around an image of FG in the center of the cover is exactly the same. The basic conception of the spine is also identical. Inside, the books seem identical up to 174, when each publisher begins his advertisements. This book has red cloth covers. The outside spine is worn and cracked. There is here the stuff of mystery! See my comments on the Miller versions of both 1869 and 1874.
