Abstract

en_US Female Squirmy visits Slimy near Oscar's. From there on the whole book is a mirror-reverse of the traditional TMCM tale. Many of the same factors are operative. The climax comes when a robin attacks in the country, and Slimy heads home. There are delightful moments in story and picture, like the good worm embrace at the first meeting. In the city, the two visit the Earthworm Museum complete with a worm mobile. In the country Squirmy's house is a big apple in contrast to Slimy's shoebox in the Big Apple.
