- Abstract
- en_US Thurber includes three Fables for Our Time so I will keep this little actor's script in the collection: The Wolf at the Door, The Unicorn in the Garden, and The Little Girl and the Wolf. The first does run away with the daughter, and so Mother doesn't ALWAYS know best (19). In the second, the man who saw the unicorn turns the tables on the wife who would not believe him, and she ends up being shut up in an institution for the insane. Don't count your boobies until they are hatched (22). The shot wolf in the third sits up straight before dying to give the moral: It is not so easy to fool little girls nowadays as it used to be (24). The T of C speaks of these as Part One, and I am disappointed not to find a second part!
