- Abstract
- en_US This is a crepe-paper (or rice-paper?) version of the great large paper book I found in the numbered edition ten years ago. This edition has E. Flammarion Éditeur stamped on its cover. The book is extremely fragile and has a detached back cover. Though the paper is of a much different consistency, the pages are still double as in that edition. The title-page here is done entirely in black, including the simpler border, seal, and La Fontaine, while these elements there are done in brown. This edition is not numbered, though the inside front-cover still speaks of the limited edition of 350 copies. The images here are proportionally smaller. The colors here are much better rendered than they are in the companion Tome Premier. Only one illustration is disappointingly faint here: Le Renard et le Chat. See my notes about the large paper edition on particularly good images among the fourteen. Bassy #50. Bodemann #373.1. Hobbs #39, where she alone writes of a large paper edition (which I take to be my earlier find in contrast to this edition).
