- Abstract
- en_US Here are twelve fables in Franco-Arabic pidgin. I am surprised at how much sense I can make out of these texts. There is a short translation of Arabic words into French on the first page. The selection here is heavy on traditional favorites from La Fontaine: GGE, The Worker and His Sons, LM, WL, MM, FS, FC, GA, OF, Les Animaux Malades de la Peste, TH, and L'Huitre et les Plaideurs. The final page, Ben-Ali à l'École, is a scene in pidgin for two characters. The first page of text shows a copyright of 1947, but the back cover shows a publication date--like that of the second volume of fables in slang in this series--of 1988. As with that volume, the printer here is Aymard in Pont-du-Chateau.
