- Abstract
- en_US Here is one of five remarkable little (4 x 5½) eight-page pamphlets I have found celebrating the centennial of the death of Krylov. After some introductory prose, The Builder Fox begins on 4 with the first of four black-and-white illustrations. The illustrations look as though they may have come from an animated film. The story is new to me. A lion who keeps chickens needs to stop them from leaving or being stolen. He sets up a competition for hen-house-building. Fox wins and creates several hidden entrances. As soon as the henhouse is used, he steals chickens. The story ends with the lion realizing that he should choose employees more carefully! How remarkable to find something produced in Moscow in 1944! I can find no indication of the visual artist.
