- Abstract
- en_US What the title and subtitle do not make clear is that this book deals with four Italian renaissance fabulists, the former two writing in Latin and the latter two in Italian. After an overview of Aesop in the Italian Renaissance, the book offers, bilingually on opposing pages, fables from the four. For those seeking a sampling of better fables in these groups, I offer these suggestions. From Alberti: #5, #19, and #23. From Scala: #9, #32, #49, and #81. From Da Vinci: #26, #28, and #36. And from Baldi: #14, #52, #70, #83, and #97. Our collection has several books of Leonardo's fables. I had not known of the other three.
