- Abstract
- en_US This is an eight-page two-staple pamphlet arguing against UMT, Universal Military Training, or peacetime conscription. An oracle who learns the mind of the people by something called gallupolling turns out to be a strong backer, and a Congressman has questions. As he points out, they are living in a world where peace is not yet settled after a great war. The Congressman asks all sorts of good detailed questions, and the oracle answers in generalities. The oracle's repeated claim is "The people are always ahead of Congress." There are twenty foodnotes. The National Council was doing its job! I can see why this bit of ephemera showed up at Bolerium Books.
