- Abstract
- en_US This traditional story sometimes uses other animals but the effect is the same. All three swindlers speak of the traveler's cow as a horse. In this version, he has just bought the cow at a slaughterhouse to slaughter at home to provide food. So here he leaves the cow to go back and complain that he has been given a horse instead. How many voices does it take to get each of us to doubt his or her factual perceptions? The stated moral is "Whatever we do, we need to think over carefully, be self-confident." The English editing of this story suffers. Here is an example: "Three of swindlers are so happy to have a big cow to make a food at free of charge." The outside front-cover has a symbol for Green Life publishing, and the inside front-cover repeats that along with a symbol for Green Ocean paper. The publisher's symbol seems to be two purple heads reading an open red book; that symbol appears three times. There is a page of vocabulary on the inside back cover, with a picture of all six books in the series on the back cover. The pamphlet is twelve pages long, about 7½" x 6¾".
