- Abstract
- en_US Pauli Ruotolo tipped me off to the exhibit and book. I wrote to the museum and asked if copies of this catalogue were still available. They graciously scared one up and sent it to me. Bronwyn Minton is the Associate Curator of Art and Research at the museum. Twenty-five artists each contribute an illustration – in a variety of media and styles. The very first, TMCM by Rachel Kunkle Hartz (4), is among the most dramatic, contrasting country and city. Also arresting is the ink drawing of DW by Haley Badenhop (12). Half of the single animal's face is the dog chained to his doghouse. The other half is wildly psychedelic! Again, Ben Carlson's ink drawing of "The Wolf and His Shadow" (28) is wonderfully suggestive. David Klarén's FG on 38 startles a viewer into thinking twice. Greg Houda's WC puts great expressions on both animal's faces (44)! I have not been able to figure out whether artists were given established texts (whose?) or invited to prepare their own. What a lovely project and what a lovely gift!
