- Abstract
- en_US A web translating site tells me that this is "Fables: About Birds and Monkeys." This piece of Czech artistry will have to remain mostly a mystery, I fear. There seem to be six pieces or chapters on some 68 pages, each with at least one strong black-and-white print in the same style as the art on the cover. The fact that the pages are uncut fourfolds is an advantage: one can fold them open to find the prints. At times, as with the illustration on 53, a viewer is tempted to identify one or other particular object. Is that a rooster? A great thing about this collection is that it can include a piece like this. Though copies are available, as I notice, in bookshops in the Czech Republic now, who knows how long something perhaps deemed ephemeral like this will be available? I feel lucky to have found it!
