- Abstract
- en_US Here are 51 puzzles, each in a hard and an easy version. This approach to puzzles does not allow diagonal solutions. It is different also from my other experiences in that it does not present isolated words but rather whole phrases. Once the phrase starts somewhere, it keeps going, though it will vary -- up, down, left, or right -- without necessarily continuing for long in that direction. I enjoyed the first maze in both its forms. This approach to Aesop has two shadow sides that I notice. First, it elevates the stated moral. I believe that fables are at their best when they invite a personal formulation of what can be learned rather than specifying a moral. Secondly, the morals here are detached from their fables in the sense that this book does not present the 51 stories that it uses. Still, I am delighted to see Aesop show up in this surprising form! Print on demand. 159 pages. 8½" x 11".
