- Abstract
- en_US This two-staple pamphlet, about 7¾ x 8¾”, offers "Koala Learns the Meaning of Kindness" on 33 pages. The series title is “Fables That Shape Good Behavior.” Originally published by Usborne in 2022, this story traces a day for Mala the Kola. The day starts badly, and Mala behaves poorly with various animals. A friendly mouse advises that if Kola will do something good, he will feel better. Mala asks himself what kindness means. A hedgehog reinforces and specifies this advice, but Mala is still unsure. At last Mala comes across a baby bat who has fallen from the tree and cannot get back up into it. Mala goes on sharing and helping and feeling better. Mala comforts a sorrowing friend and even takes the initiative to make amends for his earlier acts. Before going to bed, Mala has a chance to report to his advisor mouse friend on the good results of the day. The illustrations here are charming, even if the lesson is a bit heavy-handed. The translator of the Indonesian version is A . Hardiyanti N I.
