- Abstract
- en_US This is a formidable paperback book 6½" x 9⅜", its 224 pages paginated with Western numbers. Fables are one or two pages long. Each receives one or two worthy illustrations plus a small symbol image offered along with the title. The illustration styles include two that I can perceive. One is cartoonish and often exaggerated, as with BS (74-75) and again on 118-19 and 201. A second style is quite detailed and expressive. It appears first on the covers but can be found also at points like 92-93 and 100. On the front cover, might that be Brer Fox working up a sweat mixing a batch of tar to catch Brer Rabbit?
