- Abstract
- en_US This book represents a congeries of countries and contributors. I expected a surprising array of fables from around the world. Instead I found a good representation of traditional fables from Aesop and La Fontaine. The tellings and the illustrations are spirited and lively. Each fable receives generally from 4 to 8 pages. Some versions surprise me. For example, GGE has a surprising visitor to a poor single man living a subsistence life. The visitor leaves a hen with the admonition not to eat it but to use the eggs. The Illustrations occupy a part of the page, arranged together with text. A particularly dramatically illustrated story is SW (79-83). There is a TOC on the left endpaper. The book belonged to Bibliotheque Mediatheque de Seltz in France and was taken out between 2001 and 2007. The copyright seems to belong to Happy Book in Milan. 98 pages. 9" x 11½".
