- Abstract
- en_US I generally avoid adding to the collection books by little-known French fabulists. I made an exception in this case because the book is illustrated. In fact, the illustrations are rather simple illustrative designs well fitted to their stories. I read several of the stories, which I believe are meant for children. They preach tolerance, non-judgment. The third fable likens fables to a wise doctor who found a child rejecting his well-chosen medicine for the child's fever. The doctor reduced the liquid to a pill, made it sweet, and the child readily swallowed it. That is what a fable is. Not in Bodemann, and Chevallier is not in "Fabulists French." 300 pages. 4¼" x 7". Nicely bound.
