- Abstract
- en_US I was enthused by this book and found that the series included two others, one of which is still available. This large-format 32-page paperback presents La Fontaine's story literally on its last page and playfully on the pages before that. It is full of fun for readers 3 to 5 years old. The tortoise gets into the race by mistake. He was applying to a woodcarvers' competition! What does the hare do for fun? Jump on a trampoline. And the hare? Do picture puzzles. At breakfast the hare is impatient to get his toast. The tortoise laments how soggy his cereal becomes. And so the story goes on, with plenty of additional characters doing engaging things and making witty comments. I will include this book soon in a podcast describing creative books working with fables.
