- Abstract
- en_US This is a delightful book 8¼" square. Lessing's fables are always stimulating and often surprising. Here schoolchildren's art offers different perspectives on his work. Sometimes the artwork is breathtakingly accomplished, as with "Die Nachtigall und der Pfau" on 37. More often, it is refreshingliy direct, as when the frogs on 33 hold up a sign telling the snake that they do not want him. For Lessing, of course, that makes the snake all the more dictatorial and vengeful. Fables like "Die Eiche und das Schwein" (38) and "Der Hamster und die Ameise" (44) are represented by multiple artworks, created from a variety of viewpoints. What a refreshing book!
