- Abstract
- en_US Giambattista Bodoni, creator of the typeface named after him, died in 1813. According to Wikipedia, the various printing houses he managed produced roughly 1,200 fine editions. This is a magnificent volume containing the first six books of La Fontaine's fables. Apparently the full set of volumes included two. The book is not illustrated. This is one of the heaviest books and largest books (18½ x 12½) in the whole collection. I am amazed to have found this book for $8. The front cover and the first page are separated from the rest of the book. The embossed golden symbol under a crown on the front and back covers apparently marks this as the Empress Marie Louise's copy!
