- Abstract
- en_US There are about forty fables here, presented in a regular format: a colored illustration occupies the left-hand page, and a text the right-hand page. The illustrations are done in a soft-line pastel-dominated style that seems to me surprising for Michalkov's stories. All the characters are gathered, apparently, in a fenced-in garden on 92-93. This book represents a step up from many of the fable books produced in Soviet Russia. The increase in quality starts with the dramatic black cover embossed in gold and scarlet. Very nice! I have had trouble establishing the identity of the visual artist.
