- Abstract
- en_US Here is a surprise. I found this book on my last day of book-hunting in Paris. When I got home, I realized we had a copy and so I located it and have been comparing them. The surprise is this: this volume (or that) has been rather completely reformatted. The typesetting on cover and pages is different. The illustrations are at different places. A new page seems to have been added, unpaginated and without verso, identifying the artist André Warnod. I will leave it to subsequent analysts to pinpoint all the changes and to figure out which printing or edition came first. As I wrote of the first copy, the excellent small illustrations caught my eye in this lovely little book, starting with the detail of GA on the cover: a dog faces a cold young woman with long blond hair and a guitar strung over her back. The fuller version here faces not 32 but 16. MM faces 9. "The Mosquito and the Coach" faces not 16 but 25. There are thirteen texts here, and MM is not one of them! Nor is "The Mosquito and the Coach." There are advertisements at the back.
