- Abstract
- en_US This version of "The Stag Admiring His Horns" develops several elements, perhaps not all wisely. The story starts with the stag proud of everything about himself, including his "long legs." Further, he brags about himself to water and land animals. Halfway through the story, he tells fellow deer that he does not like his "ugly" legs. Two hyenas attack, and the stag in this version narrowly escapes them. "Those legs saved his life." The stated moral is "Don't go after appearances. Go for things that have use for you and that have value in life." True to this series, there are colorful announcements about Green Life Printing, Green Ocean paper, and soy ink. The publisher's symbol seems to be two purple heads reading an open red book. There is a page of vocabulary on the inside back cover, with a picture of all six books in the series on the back cover. The pamphlet is twelve pages long, About 7½" x 6¾".
