Abstract

en_US This is a disappointing book, even though it is perhaps the best executed print-upon-demand volume I have acquired. The reason for my disappointment is that it was advertised on Ebay as "Fables of La Fontaine biy Christopher Carsten." I am working on a review of a separate volume of Carsten translations. When I found that this is in fact Elizur Wright's translation -- in an edition edited in 1882 by J.M.W. Gibbs -- I received this answer: "Unfortunately eBay prefills bibliographic data with their own information, which is frequently incorrect. Our own product description, which can be found before the 'item specifics' section, should be more accurate. We are sorry for any confusion." I checked Wordery's description, and it says nothing about the translator. Oh, well…. I suppose it is of value to have a clean recent copy of Elizur Wright's translation.
